After all the hype surrounding Google Friend Connect and the implications of a much more integrated social media space, Facebook have pretty much thrown it straight back at Google by blocking Friend Connect from the API. “Now that Google has launched Friend Connect, we’ve had a chance to evaluate the technology. I'm at home, I'm bored. That means just one thing in my eyes - it's time to stumble. Stumbleupon.com is pretty much what it says on the tin. You download a tool bar into your browser. You pick your interests - anything from online games to animal rights. Then once this is done you will spy 3 buttons in your browser. The first is the Stumble Button. One of my favourite quotes about the need for social software was from someone at Lotusphere who was talking about the integration of Bank of New York and Mellon Financial in the States. He stated that the problem was he had 17,000 people over here and 23,000 people over there who didn't know each other and were supposed to drive synergies from the merger.
