That's right people following the latest update from Google; Matt Cutts has finally spoken on the new rankings.  It seems that all those people that where selling links where breaking googles guidelines and now Google have acted.  Everyone's PR (page rank) it seems has gone down.  People have been panicking left right and centre about the effects that I will have on their business.  However before you panic Google is just returning things to how they should be.  So the best way to deal with this new update.  Well you may have forgotten this but search engines are all about content.  Time and time again I hear on forums people who wonder why they do not appear anywhere under a certain keyword and the truth is sometimes a little closer than you think. 

 As regular visitors to this site may have seen upon starting up with Trovus about a week later I was flying to New York. (Stress), I mean what a city but why is it so revered because they get the basics right over there.  This is everyone problem when it comes to SEO some people don't do the basics.  A friend of mine asked once why does my website not appear when I search under my name.  Within two seconds of looking at his site I had found out.  Where is your name in the website?  You see the only place he had placed his name was at the end of some animation he had done.    He quickly wrote in his name in the main body and 2 weeks later there is was top of the list.  Now you will not be able to have success like that all the time but sometimes it is why companies don't appear at the top for their brand terms.  Because they have placed a picture in and believe it will be enough.     

So what the update has lead to is a return to how the search ranking should be compiled.  Thought content of course, get this right and the rest will follow.  Yes good link strategies will work as well but do not make this your main focus.  Content is always king.  So make sure you got the basics right and it will all make sense.
