Case Study- Using HR data insight to improve staff performance and decision making

We were approached around six months ago by the HR Director of a key division of a FTSE 100 company employing over 3,000 people. They hadn’t worked with Trovus before and wanted to know how we could help them to take better decisions bringing clarity and control to their business.
We spent time challenging (as we always do) what was really important to them. We discovered there were board level pressures around how to generate more growth, and specifically how they could improve the effectiveness of their people. Like all businesses, they faced the challenge around the allocation of scarce resources, and specifically how to make decisions around what is the best place to invest their limited budget to get the biggest impact. In the past, decision making had been based on subjective views rather than informed decisions based on fact and data. They knew they could improve the effectiveness of their people by focusing on staff performance, culture and values and better matching the training needs and resources. They’d started down this route and had been collecting staff performance data. The trouble was the data was held in 4,000 different spreadsheets and different systems. Quite frankly, they couldn’t see the wood for the trees and smart decision making wasn’t on the table. Once we understood the outcome and the data sets we had to work with, we fed all the data into Oyster (the Trovus data engine) and created beautiful visuals enabling our client to not only report effectively on the data, but far more importantly to analyse and interrogate it in order to start to predict future needs and to take better decisions based on the insight it provided. Feedback from our client: “We’ve replaced our labour heavy process with rapid access to intelligence we never thought we could get, enabling us to make better decisions”.
