At the Cisco and Trovus seminar  today we asked our audience for their questions around web2.0.We are outlining these questions on our blog and throwing them open for debate. The first question was on what distinguishes the businesses who are innovating around the web.The second question was on how do you set up a blog/ wiki.The next question which we answer here is:Please comment on Web 2.0 redefines to the techno immigrant the meaning of "community", "friend" and "the truth". What advice do you give on setting up blogs/wikis?

The question is large, probably too large for a short answer here, especially as they are quite different things.  However, taking the question literally here are our thoughts on setting these things up.BLOGS1) Be clear on what you are going to blog about if you are using the tool as an external facing communications platform.2) Be clear on the reasons for introducing blogging to your company if you are using it as a internal communications platform.3) Decide on the platform that is right for you. If you are looking at it as an external communications tool, why not consider the "free platforms"...

We find that every business we have engaged with, regardless of the vertical they operate in, the products or services they sell or the size and structure of the organisation, share a number of common traits that marks them apart.They are all run by or employ innovative people.  In each case we have engaged with people who recognise that something is happening in web land.  Most admit, like the rest of us, that they don't have all the answers but they are willing and keen to use their innovative culture to embrace change.  Inevitably this means that they will work...
